Nurit Gur-Lavy (Karni)

Preoccupation with the Karni Pass in the Gaza Strip (named after her father, Joseph Karni) leads to the paintings of the refugee camp Jebalia in Gaza, based upon aerial photographs of the refugee camps

In parallel she painted the series "Citrus Orchard Piles", those citrus orchards were uprooted in the proximity of her house as the area was intended for building. The citrus orchards that once were a symbol of the Zionistic dream, changed their form into dry piles in fields of yellow groundsel - "Citrus Orchard Piles". The painting exhibits her continued preoccupation with her private and intimate milieu, a private environment, which is also a public one during processes of change.

Along ten years Gur Lavy painted her father who became ill with Alzheimer -up to his death

The piqué blanket he covered himself with, turned into a modernistic grid with actuality sentences interwoven within, like embroidery, reference to the art of women. It contains sentences from the media and the press and it also deals with the El Akza Intifada (The Karni Pass was closed or opened, terrorist attack at the Karni pivot etc.)
